Through My Loved One’s Eyes was inspired by the most meaningful gift I have ever received.

When I graduated college, my mother gave me a handmade book she created herself—a collection of family photos, recipes, memories, and a letter she wrote telling me how proud she was, how much she loved me, and the woman she believed I would become.

At the time, I loved it.

But when my mother unexpectedly passed away when I was 32, that book became everything.

It became my most valuable possession—not because of what it cost, but because it held her words, her handwriting, her recipes, and proof of how she saw me through every stage of my life.

Even now, over 20 years later, it remains the centerpiece of my home and my most treasured possession.

Whenever I doubted whether I was fully seen, appreciated, or loved, I would return to the letter she wrote me in the beginning of that book. In her words, I found comfort. In her handwriting, I found reassurance. In those pages, I found proof of love.

That is when I realized something powerful:

There is no material gift that could ever compare to the time, thought, and love behind something like this.

Most parents, caregivers, and loved ones are so busy living everyday life that they never fully say the things they mean to say.
